Ads, Ads, Go Away. . .

I’m sure almost nobody will get to the point where they land on this blog to figure out how to disable YouTube ads on their YouTube videos, but in case your googling around leads you here, I’ll explain how it’s done:

  • When logged in to YouTube, at the top right click your username and a dropdown menu will appear.
  • Click “Settings”
  • Click “Manage Account”
  • Then under “Content Displayed With My Videos” click “Do Not Allow Advertisements”

It’s such a simple thing, but it took me forever to figure out!

Curvy Corners = Life Saver

I’m working on a project for a client and they have a lot of rounded corners that really are essential to their branding. Implementing rounded corners, to a small degree, can be done easily with an image file, or can gracefully degrade to a squared corner in projects where the rounded corners aren’t essential. But for this client, there are a lot of rounded corners, and they are a MUST.

Luckily, Cameron Cooke and Mike Jolley put some hard work into creating a great jQuery solution: Curvey Corners.

With just a line of jQuery code, my rounded corners became round!

Employee Spotlight Portrait

This was a fun portrait I did last week. Donna Feldman is our new Social Media Networker so we came up with this concept and I put my photoshop skills to work. . .I think it turned out pretty cool.

The WordPress AnythingSlider

In April 2011 I developed the WordPress Anything Slider plugin and released it for sale on CodeCanyon.net. So far it has been pretty successful, reaching more than 50 sales in about a month’s time. I’ve had plenty of user feedback and helped troubleshoot quite a bit, leading me to make improvements and adjustments. Overall I’ve found that people are pretty satisfied with the plugin.

If you need a slider/banner rotator for your WordPress website, check out my plugin here.

New Website

As a web designer I never wanted to use someone else’s design for my website. I always wanted my website to show off my skill and taste in design, etc. But, I’ve been way too busy to spend any time on my own site, so I let Orman Clark do the dirty work. This site is based on the “Gridlock” WordPress theme by Orman Clark, who is a design genius. The second I saw this theme I knew it would be a great way for us to establish a new J2 Multimedia site very quickly, while still focusing on our piles of client work.

Thank you Orman Clark for providing such an excellent theme!

Petey Photography Rocks!

Don’t have much to say other than Peter Place is an awesome photographer. Every time I get an email from Flickr that a contact has uploaded new photos, I’m always hoping that it’s from him. His work is really inspiring and the way he uses light is awesome.

I’m a big fan of his work, so I contacted him and lucky for me, he was kind enough to let me use his photos in my WordPress AnythingSlider plugin demonstration.

Check out his work.

Stephen & Stephanie Engagement

Stephen is my cousin-in-law (if that’s even an official term) and when he asked me to photograph his engagement portraits I was really excited. They are such a great couple and shooting their portraits was really fun. We met at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden. I have only been there once before so it was great to be back there and check out all the history and neat scenery. We had a great time coming up with fun poses and I think we ended the day with some great photos.

Congratulations on the engagement and I can’t wait to shoot the wedding!

Erin & Zach Engagement

Erin is my cousin-in-law, and when I was asked to shoot her engagement portraits, I was thrilled! The only bad part about it is that they are Steelers fans, so I had to put up with that for a whole afternoon just weeks before the Super Bowl. (Just joking. . .I like the Steelers).

Anyway, we had a great time taking photos. We walked around downtown and made some great images. We stopped at Confluence park, the Union Station Light Rail, an alley, a big yellow wall and the Denver Center for Performing Arts Complex. They were super fun to hang out with all afternoon and we ended the day with some terrific portraits.

Congratulations on the engagement and I can’t wait to shoot the wedding!
